Supporting women to take up space and feel confident in who they are

Hi, I’m Franziska, a Swiss-licensed psychotherapist.
I work with women who have learned to keep going, but on the inside struggle with self-doubt, a sense of not being good enough, and feeling overwhelmed by work and motherhood.

Areas of expertise

Women often seek support after big life transitions - like shifts in relationships, struggles around motherhood, or they reach enough stability to heal past experiences that are asking for attention and validation.

Here are some of the areas I can support you with:

I specialize in women's issues because I belief that women deserve specialized care.

Therapy or Coaching?

I also offer a special coaching program for expat women who are navigating questions around identity, purpose and career transitions abroad.

You can find more information here.

Who I work with: The women I work with are often curious about themselves…

They are self-aware and have worked hard to become who they are today - reading books, listening to podcasts and reflecting on their purpose…

Many of them long for a sense of clarity and groundedness - they’re just not sure how to get there on their own.

How I work

My approach is warm and down-to-earth. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and safe in our sessions.

My strongest skill is to recognize patterns and look at them with curiosity rather than judgement. I love helping women gain clarity of who they were and who they could become.

I also belief that therapy needs to be pragmatic and practical. Together we create tools to make your day-to-day easier, tools you can reach for long after our work has concluded.

You don't have to filter yourself or pretend to have it together. Therapy is your space to just be yourself.

My approach is integrative and grounded in professional training.

I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology at the University of Zurich, followed by four additional years of postgraduate psychotherapy training (MAS in Psychotherapy, ZHAW).

My work is:

  • Trauma-informed and evidence-based

  • Feminist and culturally aware

  • Attentive to nervous system regulation

  • Grounded in a systemic and trans-generational framework, with elements of CBT and solution-focused work, imagination therapy, body work and ego-states

  • Weight neutral and LGBTQ+ affirming

My work draws from different schools of thought and from the wisdom of the many skilled women psychotherapists who have mentored and taught me over the years.

  • Arianne, 36

Franziskas empathetic approach and understanding helped me to open up in ways I never thought possible.

Through our sessions, I began to understand the patterns that had shaped my life and learned strategies to cope with my trauma. I feel more in control of my emotions and better equipped to handle the challenges of motherhood.

Most importantly, I’ve started to break the cycles of trauma, ensuring a healthier, happier future for my daughter. I cannot recommend Franziska highly enough for anyone struggling with similar issues. She has truly changed my life.

  • Erin, 39

Franziska is a remarkable therapist and woman.

Her combination of patience alongside use of practical, provoking ideas and tasks provided me with a safe and stable platform to really explore all of my past, to be able to stop and live in the moment, and not to be afraid of the future but to look forward to what's to come.

I learned that with the right therapist, I could truly be myself, and that I am enough.

  • Diana, 56

Franziska has shown me that there is strength in being emotional and vulnerable.

I realized that my children were mimicking my habit of just toughing things out. Once I changed how I handled my emotions and had an open conversation with my family, I noticed a significant impact on them.

Now, we have meaningful conversations at dinner, and our family is closer than ever before.

  • Laura, 49

I’ve reclaimed my sex life and feel much more confident in my body. I finally threw out all the clothes that didn’t fit and bought new, colorful ones instead of only black.

The freedom I feel is indescribable. I didn't expect to be able to feel happy in my body without losing weight but I do!

  • Aria, 30

With the help of Franziska Hunkemöller I was able to tackle several challenges in my job, my family and my childhood.

I was never judged and felt taken seriously. There was a good mix of difficult sessions and more comforting, thought provoking ones.

What I really liked, were the very concrete solutions we came up with together. She really went the extra mile to support me through this difficult time, I appreciate this a lot.

  • Ronja, 42

I met Mrs Hunkemöller by chance while doing my ADHD assessment.

I finally felt comfortable, taken serious and understood. I was able to talk openly about all my worries and problems.

She is warm-hearted, understanding and uplifting in her personality. I still use many of her ideas and tips on a daily basis!

I want women to reach for more - and grow into the version of themselves they have always felt was possible, but never had the support to become.
